WOMEN'S ONE DAY RETREAT

On a quiet Saturday morning in March, a group of about 25 ladies from all walks of life gathered together at the parlor of the Community Church of Douglaston for CCD’s second Women’s One Day Retreat.

The purpose of the gathering was to press the “pause” button in our packed lives, enjoy an intentionally-created beautiful and worshipful time, during which the attendees learned about each other and about how to “lament” (or unburden ourselves) to a loving, wise, powerful God.

We started the gathering with simple but beautiful breakfast in a room that was decorated and set with warmth and beauty. The gathering got better and better (and yes, more beautiful) as the day went on- heartfelt, soulful worship songs sung by all women and led by Annelise, thought-provoking questions about each other and ourselves, reading through and learning from the book of Lamentations, more sharing, a bountiful and healthy luncheon, small and gentle movements to keep our bodies moving and awake, small group sharings, and ending with another soulful time of worship through songs such as “I love you, Lord” and “As the deer pants for the water so my soul longs after You…”

Much love to all who were led to attend the retreat, much thanks to CCD for its support of such ministry to women, and hurray to those who rolled up their sleeves and did the work to make the One Day Retreat happen. God be with all.
